About me

Blerta Ismaili is an actress and performance artist working between Prishtina and London.  Joining a young artists' collective in Prishtina at 12, she co-created video pieces that sparked her passion for acting and performance art, while during her teens she studied piano and got used to being on stage early by participating in festivals as a child singer and performer.  Blerta is most known for her stellar performance in 'HIVE,' a feature film directed by Blerta Basholli. HIVE had its premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival where it secured a historic trifecta of awards: the Grand Jury Prize, Audience Award, and Directing Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. The film was also Kosovo's entry for the 94th Academy Awards' Best International Feature Film category.

Ismaili’s acting portfolio also includes major roles in films like 'Fjala e dhënë' (Given Word) by Ujkan Hysaj, 'Anestezioni' (Anesthesia) by Noar Sahiti, 'Unwanted' by Edon Rizvanolli, and 'DRITA,' directed by Daniel Kruglikov. Beyond her involvement with cinema, Ismaili has also worked in various performance art pieces across European cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, and Istanbul. Notably, she recently performed at the prestigious Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, collaborating with artist Astrit Ismaili on his performance 'LYNX'.
